The Westmoreland County Democratic Party is governed by the rules of the Democratic Party of Westmoreland County, the rules of the Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee, and the rules of the Democratic National Committee.
Organization of the County Party
The Westmoreland County Democratic Committee is made up of elected and appointed Committee members that represent specific voting precincts in Westmoreland County. Each precinct has two committee positions - one male, one female.
The Westmoreland County Democratic Party is led by the County Committee which includes the executive officers - Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. The chair and vice chair are elected by the elected membership of the county committee for terms of four years. The chair and vice chair must include one woman and one man. The treasurer and secretary are appointed by the chair.
There are several committees that advise and work with the chair and other officers. These include the Finance Committee, Rules Committee, Advisory Committee and the Executive Committee. To learn about the responsibilities and membership of each committee please click here.
