Committees and Groups within the County Committee

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee consists of the four officers of the county committee and nine appointed members (by the chair) representing one of each of the nine districts of the county party organization. These positions serve at the pleasure of the County Chair. The responsibilities of the committee are to raise funds for the management of the office, support of candidates and campaigns, and other operations necessary for the operation of the county party.

 

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee consists of the four officers of the county committee and nine appointed members (by the chair) representing one of each of the nine districts of the county party organization. These positions serve at the pleasure of the County Chair. The responsibilities of the committee are to advise and assist the County Chair.

 

Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee consists of all the elected Democratic officeholders at the county, state, and federal level (for districts that include parts of Westmoreland County) and nine appointed members (by the chair) representing one of each of the nine districts of the county party organization. The responsibilities of the committee are to advise and assist the Executive Committee.

 

Rules Committee

The Rules Committee consists of five members appointed by the Chair and serving at the Chair’s pleasure. The committee is responsible for advising and recommending to the Chair and Executive Committee any changes or amendments to the county party bylaws and rules.

 

Office & Events Committee

The responsibilities of the Office and Events Committee are to plan and coordinate events (county, district, municipal, community, and with other organizations), organize and maintain a Calendar of Events, manage and schedule volunteers, interns, and office staff, day-to-day administration of the office and operations.

 

Communications Committee 

The responsibilities of the Communications Committee are to plan, manage, and operate the many elements of the county party’s communications which include public relations, media relations, social media, website, e-mails, mailings, organize and maintain a Calendar of Events, provision of talking points to local officials, and all other elements of the profile and communications of the party at the local level.

 

Elections Committee

Responsibilities of this committee are the recruitment and support of candidates, planning of election calendars and races, relations with the County Election Bureau, petitioning rules and support, and other candidate and election assistance. The Committee will include municipal and district chairs so as to recruit quality candidates for local races as well as other members appointed by the County Chair.

 

Policy & Outreach Groups                        

These groups report directly to the Communication Committee and Chair and members serve at the pleasure of the Chair. These policy groups are to link people with specific passions and expertise in particular issue areas and have them play a role in assisting the party, local candidates, and voters in understanding issues. This would also include doing outreach events for voters and residents on these issues. The current list of groups includes:
